dwell local studio ~~ classes   Pre-registration is required, please call (507)202-3815   It’s a Charming Thing, Movement and Glass — with Amy Johnson    Wednesday, June 19th @ 6pm-9pm   Lets Experiment!!! Do you want to see glass move? Crackle? Divide? In this class you will play with enamel which is powdered glass and experiment with reactions. You will learn that each enamel colorant has a different expansion rate. You will then learn through your experiments how combining a low expansion rate enamel called crackle with different colors and temperatures can make glass move differently. Come and play with movement and glass! Learn the art of enameling, the process of binding powdered glass to a metal surface. In this class, you will learn basic enameling skills. You will learn how to sift powdered glass onto copper. You will then heat and melt the powdered glass by the use of a Mapp gas torch. At the end of this class you will have acquired various charms that you have made through your experiments. You will attach jump rings to your charms and I will provide a 18 inch chain so you can alternate and wear your charm pendants. Students should wear closed toe shoes, natural fiber clothing and have their hair tied back. $50 class fee includes all materials.
